DRIP IRRIGATION SYSTEM FOR 38 HA OF COFFEE IN BA RIA – VUNG TAU
A drip irrigation system was implemented for 38 hectares of coffee in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, with an appropriate irrigation zoning design to ensure stable and uniform water distribution across the entire area.
The 38-hectare coffee drip irrigation project in Ba Ria – Vung Tau was designed by Green Agritech based on the actual field conditions and the system’s available water supply capacity.
One of the key challenges was that the central control unit is located far from the irrigation area. Therefore, Green Agritech carried out hydraulic calculations for the entire pipeline network to determine suitable flow rates, operating pressure, and irrigation zoning, ensuring stable system operation.
Instead of irrigating all 38 hectares simultaneously, the system was divided into 6 irrigation zones. Each zone operates separately, with a flow rate of approximately 100–140 m³/h and an irrigation duration of around 2 hours and 50 minutes, depending on the area of each zone and actual crop water requirements.
In the field, the system uses 16 mm TopDrip PC AS drip lines, with two drip lines installed along both sides of each coffee row. The emitters are spaced 50 cm apart with a flow rate of 2 L/h. The integrated PC (Pressure Compensating) technology helps maintain a consistent flow rate under varying pressure conditions, achieving over 95% irrigation uniformity.
In addition, the AS (Anti-Siphon) feature closes the emitter when irrigation stops and system pressure drops. This helps prevent soil and debris from being drawn back into the emitter, reducing the risk of clogging.
By combining hydraulic calculations, irrigation zoning, and PC AS drip line technology, the system is designed to meet the irrigation requirements of the entire 38-hectare coffee plantation while remaining compatible with the project’s available water supply and actual operating conditions.
